Improving Windows Performance

Before making changes to your operating system, make sure to back up important data.

1. CCleaner

CCleaner deletes temporary files, empties the recycle bin and removes memory dumps.
Install CCleaner and run it daily.

2. Revo Uninstaller

Use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall any unwanted programs.
Go through all the programs installed in your system, and uninstall programs that are not needed.
For programs that are not familier check in Google. Use the Autorun Manager under Tools to choose which programs will start with Windows.
Remove any unwanted programs from startup.

3. AVG Anti-Spyware

Install AVG Anti-Spyware and run it weekly.
AVG Anti-Spyware removes spy programs and unhealthy system entries.
It is most efficient to run CCleaner before AVG Anti-Spyware so that AVG Anti-Spyware won't have to scan all the temporary files.

4. AVG Anti-Virus

Uninstall your current antivirus and firewall.
Install AVG and make sure the AVG system tray icon is colorful, at all times.
If it is gray, you may need to update by right clicking the icon, or your system date might be set incorrectly.

5. Comodo Firewall

Install Comodo Firewall and make sure that Comodo's system tray icon is present at all times.
Comodo is the most secure personal firewall and also uses low system resources.
If you want to disable the animation in the icon by right clicking on the icon and choose
After installing Comodo you will be asked to permit or deny incoming and outgoing alerts.
Either permit all or disable Comodo's application monitor.
When permiting make sure to check the checkbox on the bottom.

6. EvID4226Patch

Install EvID4226Patch and change that amount of your system's half open internet connections from 10 to 100.
EvID4226Patch makes your internet downloads much faster, especially for file sharing programs like Emule and Bittorent.

7. Update Checker

It is important to make sure that your Windows is up to date and it is best if all the programs on your computer are up to date to. Update are important because they usually contain security patches and important bug fixes.
Insall Update Checker which scans your computer for installed software and gives you a list of download links for the updates.

8. JkDefrag

Install JkDefrag and run it monthly.
JkDefrag is a fast hard disk defragmenter which uses low memory usage.
